Neuroplasticity is real, well-documented, and genuinely useful. But it's slower, more specific, and more effort-dependent than the wellness-industry version suggests. Understanding the actual mechanism — not the metaphor — is what tells you which changes are realistic and which are just marketing.
What neuroplasticity actually is, mechanically

Why "just think positive" doesn't rewire anything

Track the behaviour, not the feeling
Because plastic change follows practice, not belief, a log of what you actually did — minutes practised, days completed — is a better predictor of change than how motivated you felt. A simple daily tracker keeps the input consistent even on low-motivation days.
What to stop doing
Stop expecting affirmation or intention alone to produce structural change. The brain responds to attentive, repeated behaviour, not stated belief.
Stop practising only what's already comfortable. The edge-of-ability zone is where plastic change actually happens.
